How we came to provide Websites for Therapists…

Back in 2009 we created this website service for ourselves.  We had become disappointed with the service offered by some other web hosting services.  They, supposedly, were set up for counsellors & therapists but, to us who knew the web hosting business, seemed not to be offering a particularly authentic service.

Therapists may not be used to the world of Websites and Internet Service Providers – but we’re clued up on the Internet, Websites & WordPress … and we felt taken advantage of by some therapy website offerings.

We didn’t like other Therapy Website Providers…

So, yes, we were very picky – and we were surprised, disappointed (and sometimes horrified) at the services therapists were being offered for their presence on the Internet.

We wanted full control over what our website did, how it looked, how it behaved,what we wanted to say on our own web sites, and tools to help us know if we were doing a good (or not) job.  Some might consider that we’d set our standards so (defensively) high that no-one could reach them / perhaps we should have accepted the restrictions from these web service commercial companies.

We didn’t.  We decided to go another way…

Why our therapy website hosting is different…

We’re a small, close-knit team based on the south coast in Portsmouth, Hampshire.  We consist of in-house, ex-IBM professional Web site/IT talent and professionally qualified therapists (BACP accredited etc).  We decided to create a therapy website service that suited our specific needs for counselling websites.  We used WordPress as our open-source content management system and rented professional dedicated Internet servers from UK2.

We were happy – our service worked well and we built our professional counselling businesses on top of it.

Sometimes therapists begin using a free website service and later on (after building confidence) would like to move to a more professional solution.  At Cybershrink we can help you transfer your own existing website into a Cybershrink one.

This offer assumes that you hold the copyright to your existing website (sometimes hosting companies who develop your website also wish to hold the copyright … so you cannot make a copy elsewhere.  Best to check!).

This offer is also on the understanding that you are up for the actual work of creating your new website (not us).  We will help you with the new design as an advisor.

The Bad News about our Support.

Although we are experts in Website maintenance and design, we cannot offer a lot of technical support to you, nor answer 100s of questions a day.

The service we provide caters for 1,000s of WordPress templates, widgets and plugins and this makes ours a very powerful and very flexible service.  If you can be prepared to do your part in looking after your own site and your own needs, we can supply the tools that make it work.

We also cannot offer custom installations of themes for you (eg if you like a theme, but you’d like the title moving over there, and the colour changed to this, and your picture hovering over there, and, and, and, and… then we are not the service for you).

Analogy: you are wanting to make a brand new dress/suit from scratch.  We’ll provide the material, the scissors, sewing machine, tailor’s dummy and sources of instructions … but we won’t make the dress/suit for you.
